It is believed that Lord Vishnu had built a pool here for the bath of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, which people now know as Manikarnika Kund. During the bath, the ear of Mother Parvati fell in the flower pond, which Mahadev found and pulled it out. This Ghat was named Manikarnika Ghat after the ear flower of Goddess Parvati.
